Thal

Thal: St.Jakob church (fox's den)
Thal: St.Jakob church. The altar At the position of today's parish church Thal in 1618 a wooden graveyard chapel was built. It was consecrated to Saint Sebastian, a saint who was said to help against the plague.
The chapel within the castle Unterthal was consecrated to Saint Jacob who in the late 17th century fell into decay and in 1755 is already mentioned as being ruinous. The patron saint of Saint Jacob was moved in 1772 to the former Sebastian chapel which was changed into the parish church St.Jakob.
The wooden chapel was pulled down in 1739 and replaced by the brick building of the parish church St.Jakob. The chapel was repeatedly extended to the back to meet demands of an increased population.
Until 1897 the church still had an onion tower. In 1992-94 the church was altered after plans of the architect Dr.Manfred Fuchsbichler with designs of the painter Prof. Ernst Fuchs. The local population calls it lovingly "fox's den".
The pews are in shape of the Jacob's shell made from plastic. The altar crystals were delivered by the Swarowski company (Wattens, Tirol).

The son of his brother lives and works in Los Angeles. In 1986 Schwarzenegger himself has married Maria Shriver, a member of the Kennedy Clan. They have four children.

In tribute to his merit the town council of Graz decided in 1997 to name the recently renovated soccer stadium in Graz-Liebenau "Arnold Schwarzenegger-Stadion"(stadium). An honor that persons still alive is seldom granted to.
